Amigo LNG celebrates receipt of all necessary Mexican and US authorizations

HOUSTON, TEXAS  (By Pietro D. Pitts, Energy Analytics Institute, 2.Jun.2026, Words: 266) — Amigo LNG, which plans to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction terminal on Mexico’s west coast in Guaymas, Sonora, has received all necessary permits to advance the project.

Amigo LNG will source feed gas from the prolific US Permian basin. From there the gas will be transported to Mexico via existing cross-border pipeline infrastructure.

“We are excited to share that all critical permits and authorizations for the advancement of the Amigo LNG project have been duly obtained from the relevant Mexican governmental and regulatory authorities,” Amigo LNG said on 2 Jun. 2026 in an official statement.

These authorization include:

— an authorization for liquefaction and LNG storage activities issued by the Comisión Nacional de Energía (CNE), Mexico’s National Energy Commission

— manifestación de impacto ambiental (MIA) environmental approval issued by Agencia de Seguridad, Energía y Ambiente (ASEA), under the oversight framework of Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (SEMARNAT); and

— Manifestación de impacto social del sector energético (MISSE) social impact assessment approval issued by Secretaria de Energía (SENER).

In addition, Amigo LNG has received all required US Department of Energy (DOE) free-trade agreement (FTA) and non-FTA export authorizations and Mexican LNG export approvals, providing regulatory authorization for LNG exports over a 20-year period.
