MONTERREY, MEXICO (By Isaac Silvestre, Editores LatinPetroleum, 4.Sep.2026, Words: 330) — Through Jun. 2026, Mexico’s oil production averaged 1.7 million barrels per day (MMb/d), with 94.3% coming from state-owned PEMEX and 5.7% from private companies.
In the refining space, the national refining system processed an average of 1 MMb/d of crude oil through Jun. 2026, 20.3% more than through same 6 month period of the previous year.
Mexico produced nearly 5 million cubic feet of natural gas per day (MMcf/d) through Jun. 2026.
Without a doubt, gasoline is the most significant product, with a monthly average of 423,000 b/d, representing a 24.5% increase compared to the same period of the previous year, Mexico’s government announced on 5 Sep. 2026 in its 2nd annual report to the nation.
Under the leadership of president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Mexico boast contruction of 6 combined-cycle power plants while it rehabilitated 11 hydroelectric plants, and carried out 27,195 electrification projects benefiting 16,000 communities.
With Plan Mexico, there are now 14 economic development hubs for well-being, 6 of which already have assigned developers.
Through the combined efforts of Mexican businesses and the government, national re-industrialization is being promoted, supply chains are being strengthened, local consumption is being boosted, and merchandise exports are reaching a record $664.8bn in 2025. By the first half 2026, they had already surpassed $389bn, the government said.
Today, the “Mexican economy is growing with shared prosperity,” the government said.
As of the second quarter 2026, and with seasonally adjusted figures, the gross domestic product )GDP) registered real annual growth of 2.1%, driven by agriculture, construction, manufacturing, tourism, and services, as well as by the dynamism of exports, foreign direct investment (FDI), remittances, and, “above all, by the efforts of all Mexicans,” the government said.
Importantly, the Mexican peso is among the most appreciated currencies in the world, according to the government.
