LatAm NRG Heard: Energía Argentina and Transener, Tula and Salina Cruz Refineries

—Argentina: Energía Argentina SA initiated a process to divest its shrs in Transener, Argentina’s main energy transport co. The decision is in line w/ the gov’t of president Javier Milei and his policies that the state stops fulfilling the role of entrepreneurs w/ state-owned cos., according to the Energy Secretariat

—Chile: There are an estimated 12 energy projects under evaluation in the Biobío Region.

—Ecuador: The national gov’t reports that, as of 1 Jan. 2025, power cuts will be suspended for the industries in the high voltage 1 (AV1) and high voltage 2 (AV2) groups. The measure looks to return normality to the country w/o power cuts or rationing, ensuring a continuous supply for all sectors.

—Mexico: Mexico is looking to add coking plants at the Tula and Salina Cruz refineries in a move to boost the production of gasoline and diesel, promoting Mexico’s energy self-sufficiency, according to the SENER.

—Venezuela: Queues at service stations in Valencia state remain long w/ motorists seeking petrol as reportedly less petrol is arriving in the region. 

—Venezuela: Opposition leader María Corina Machado said over social media that a new chapter will begin in Venezuela on 10 Jan. 2025 when Edmundo González takes over as the president of the OPEC country. This, after the still disputed 28 Jul. 2024 presidential election that saw González and Nicolás Maduro claim victory.
