(Energy Analytics Institute, 1.Nov.2024) — ExxonMobil Corporation, which is partnered with QatarEnergy in the three-train 18 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) Golden Pass LNG project, eyes the ship off of the initial LNG cargo from the project in late 2025, Darren Woods, the chairman and CEO of the Texas-based company said during a webcast with analysts.
“We anticipate today that that venture will basically be delayed by about six months. So, we expect to see first LNG out of that train back-end of 2025, to potentially slipping over into the New Year, but it’ll be in that timeframe that we see,” Wood said 1 Nov. 2025 during the company’s third-quarter 2024 webcast.
“And then, of course, each train after that, we anticipate about six months’ separation between the trains coming on,” Woods said.
The $10bn Golden Pass LNG export project will add natural gas liquefaction and export capabilities to the existing terminal in Sabine Pass, Texas. The export project is situated about 10 miles south of Port Arthur in Jefferson County, Texas on the Sabine-Neches Waterway, according to details on the Golden Pass LNG website.
The Golden Pass LNG development has continued to move forward despite the bankruptcy of its main contractor Zachry, Woods said.
“Golden Pass venture is managing the project, and we’re contributing as best we can, and obviously worked with the venture in response to the bankruptcy,” Woods said, responding to an analyst’s question. “And that team, I think, is making really good progress at re-optimizing the work and the schedule.”
