Woodside and PEMEX ink MOU, say Trion now 64% complete

MONTERREY, MEXICO (By Isaac Silvestre, Editores LatinPetroleum, 3.Sep.2026, Words: 141) — Woodside signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with state-owned PEMEX to explore potential future opportunities in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

The MOU was signed by Woodside CEO Liz Westcott and PEMEX CEO Juan Carlos Carpio Fragoso, the Australian energy giant announced on 3 Sep. 2026 in an official statement. 

“The MOU builds on the strong relationship we’ve developed with PEMEX through the Trion project and will see us share technical knowledge and expertise,” Woodside said in the statement. 

Trion is now 64% complete and targeting first oil in 2028.
