Centro Sur Reveals Second Phase Of La Troncal Project

(Energy Analytics Institute, 30.Jul.2020) — Ecuador’s Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MERNNR by its Spanish acronym), through Empresa Eléctrica Regional Centro Sur CA (CentroSur), delivered to the market the second stage of Substation 50 – La Troncal.

The second stage of this substation came online in September 2019, and aims to guarantee continuity and reliability in the provision of the electric power service in La Troncal, the MERNNR announced 30 July 2020 in an official statement.

Construction of the second stage of Substation 50 – La Troncal, included installation of the 22 kV patio with 10 output positions for feeders, which provides greater capacity and reliability of electric power service, and to the benefit of more than 70,000 inhabitants, located in the Pancho Negro, Manuel de Jesús Calle and La Troncal parishes.

Substation 50 – La Troncal, is the largest in the CentroSur concession area. The first stage of the the project came into operation in September 2017.
