PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 27.Mar.2025) — US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Guyana and the country’s president Mohamed Irfaan Ali to discuss ways the 2 countries could strengthen their economic and security ties. Rubio also traveled to Suriname to discuss similar matters with that country’s president Chandrikapersad Santokhi.
“The United States stands with Guyana in support of its territorial integrity against the [Nicolás] Maduro regime,” Rubio said on 27 Mar. 2025 in post of X. He also thanked Ali and Guyana for their support in addressing the crisis in Haiti.
