— Andrés Guevara De la Vega has been name as the new president of bp in Spain. In his new position, Guevara de la Vega will contribute to reinforcing the co.’s strategy and consolidating bp’s role in Spain’s energy transition process.

Chile

— In 2021, the Chile enacted the country’s first Energy Efficiency Law in its history. By 2030, this law will allow a 35% reduction in emissions and a reduction of 28.6mn tons of CO2, which is equivalent to avoiding the annual journey of 15.8mn light vehicles in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Chile’s Energy Ministry announced 10 Jan. 2022 over Instagram. By 2030, the law will help to reduce energy intensity by 10% in Chile. In so doing, this will require large energy consumers implement energy management systems while new homes will need to carry labels like those currently on appliances or digital clocks, the ministry said.

Guyana

— Guyana’s President Dr. Irfaan Ali and senior members of his cabinet met w/ a team from the Commonwealth Secretariat led by its Secretary-General, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, according to details published 10 Jan. 2022 over social media by the Office of the President of Guyana.
