MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 13.Jul.2026, Words: 296) — Mexico, through the Mexican Navy, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the Logistics Support Ships ARM “Isla Holbox” (BAL-02) and ARM “Huasteco” (AMP-01) arrived at the port of La Guaira, Venezuela, completing an approximately 8-day voyage across the Caribbean Sea to deliver humanitarian aid sent by the government of Mexico in support of the Venezuelan people.
This mission was carried out in compliance with the instructions of Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo as part of Mexico’s commitment to international cooperation and humanitarian assistance to peoples facing the effects of natural disasters.

During their voyage, the ships traveled approximately 1,969 nautical miles, equivalent to more than 3,600km, transporting a total of 2,003 cubic meters of humanitarian aid, equivalent to 388.42 tons, consisting of food, bottled water, personal hygiene items, medicines, medical supplies, and four water purification plants, each with the capacity to produce 1,000 liters of purified water per hour, Mexico’s presidency announced on 13 Jul. 2026 in an official statement.
Additionally, 100 members of the Mexican Navy’s Emergency Response Brigades (BRE) will participate in the unloading, installation, and commissioning of the water purification plants, as well as in the organization and distribution of the humanitarian aid, in coordination with the relevant Venezuelan authorities.

While the immediate emergency response phase has been completed, according to the Navy Plan, recovery efforts remain essential to restore vital services and contribute to the well-being of the affected population. In this regard, the aid sent by Mexico seeks to strengthen this phase by providing basic supplies and capabilities to support recovery efforts for the benefit of the communities.
