Venezuela says it will never recognize ICJ jurisdiction regarding the Essequibo

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 2.May.2025, Words: 322) — Venezuela has “categorically rejected” a statement published on 1 May 2025 by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding a request made by the government of neighboring Guyana regarding the Venezuelan electoral process for the selection of the authorities in the state of ‘Guayana Esequiba.’

Venezuela labeled the request as “abusive and interventionist provisional measures,” in an official statement published on 2 May 2025.
