(Energy Analytics Institute, Aaron Simonsky, 8.Apr.2019) — With entry into commercial operation of the La Banderita wind farm in La Pampa, there are currently already 35 renewable energy projects with a combined installed capacity of 1,024.3 megawatts (MW) that have come online since 2016.
These projects — awarded through RenovAr and MaTER — generate electricity for more than 840,000 households and represent an investment of more than $1,500 million, announced Argentina’s Energy Secretariat on 8 April 2019 in an official statement on its website.
The La Banderita wind farm, which entered commercial operation on Saturday, 6 April, is located 20 km southwest of the town of General Acha in the department of Ultracán, and is the first wind project in La Pampa.
Investments in the project — awarded in Round 1.5 of RenovAr – were approximately $58.8 million. La Banderita has an installed capacity of 36.75 MW and generates electricity for more than 40,000 households with use of 11 Vestas V136-3.6 wind turbines with 3.6 MW of unit power.
To-date there are 100 renewable energy projects under construction in Argentina with a combined installed capacity of 3,742.7 MW, which require an investment of $5,590 million.
In total, the 135 projects will generate more than 9,500 new jobs between the construction, operation and maintenance stages, the entity said.
