(Energy Analytics Institute, Ian Silverman, 27.Nov.2018) — Peru and Chile have committed to moving towards an electrical interconnection between both countries via Arica-Tacna.

“A study is being carried out related to the economic benefits of this interconnection,” Chile’s Energy Minister Susana Jiménez explained in an official statement published on the ministry’s website.

Additionally, both countries – through their respective technical teams – are working on a regulatory agreement that would visualize the electricity exchanges, she added.

“These commitments were approved in a Bi-national Cabinet, and will take place in 2019,” concluded Jiménez.
