MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Editores Latin Petroleum, 25.Oct.2026, Words: 119) — CFE will build the Altamira combined cycle power plant with an investment of $804mn.
The plant will add 557 MW to the National Electric System, ePlusMexico reported on 25 Oct. 2026.
Over 1.3 million residents will benefit, and the plant will supply electricity to 386,000 homes, according to projections.
How will it work?
The waste heat from the gas turbines will be used to produce steam and generate additional electricity.
This aims to optimize natural gas consumption and reduce generation costs and emissions.
