CARACAS, VENEZUELA (By Piero Stewart, Editores Latin Petroleum, 23.Oct.2026, Words: 123) — Venezuela seeks to revive one of its largest power plants with China’s help, amid an energy crisis marked by blackouts and growing social unrest, according to Bloomberg.
China Machinery Engineering plans to reactivate a 600-megawatt unit at Planta Centro next month, which has been virtually shut down since 2021, the news agency reported on 23 Oct. 2026.
The operation would allow the recovery of about 25% of the complex’s capacity and alleviate blackouts, while Beijing maintains its presence in the country despite Washington’s efforts to reduce its influence.
