MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 6.Aug.2026, Words: 161) — The explosion of a tanker truck carrying asphalt inside a vehicle impound lot in San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, left 4 people dead, presumably employees of the establishment.

The incident occurred in the Las Huertas neighborhood, at the intersection of Tamiahua and Pitayos streets, where a tanker truck carrying 58,000 liters of asphalt caught fire, El Financiero reported on 6 Aug. 2026.
Workers at the lot attempted to contain the blaze, and a powerful explosion then occurred.

Emergency personnel were mobilized and worked to extinguish the fire. After several minutes, they managed to put it out, ut then found the lifeless bodies of the employees, reported the secretary of public safety and citizen protection of San Pedro Tlaquepaque Mario Silva.
“There are four deceased individuals, all male, between 35 and 45 years of age,” Silva said. Â
