(Energy Analytics Institute, Piero Stewart, 9.Jan.2020) — Ecuador’s Electric Corporation (CELEC EP) and the Sub-secretariat Zonal 6 of the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) signed an agreement for the maintenance of the Sevilla de Oro – Guarumales highway – Méndez, located in the area of influence of the hydroelectric plants of the Paute Integral Complex.
Through the agreement, signed 9 January 2020 in Azuay, CELEC EP will invest between $12 million and $15 million in two stages. During the first stage, which will last two years, the company is expected to invest $5 million, Ecuador’s Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MENRNR) said 9 January 2020 in an official statement.
The Sevilla de Oro – Guarumales – Méndez route is a fundamental artery for the Austro connection of the country with the Amazonian provinces.
