BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA (By Steve Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 17.Dec.2025, Words: 224) — Since the inaugural export of liquefied natural gas or LNG to The Commonwealth of The Bahamas on 13 Dec. 2017, Sawgrass LNG & Power has completed thousands of deliveries of LNG to customers ranging from industrial users to power generators across multiple islands.
This comes as Miami, Florida-headquartered Sawgrass celebrates this month 8 years of LNG exports to The Bahamas, marking a significant milestone in US–Bahamian energy cooperation.Â
LNG has been provided to The Bahamas through Sawgrass’ wholly owned subsidiary, American LNG Marketing LLC, the only company to have ever delivered LNG from the US to The Bahamas, Sawgrass said on 17 Dec. 2025 in an official statement.
American LNG Marketing made history in 2016 as the first exporter of LNG from the continental US to a non–Free Trade Agreement (non-FTA) country, beginning with deliveries to The Barbados.Â
This historic achievement marked a new chapter in American energy engagement in the region and was followed 1 year later by the first LNG shipment to The Bahamas, according to Sawgrass.
“Sawgrass LNG & Power remains committed to advancing modern energy infrastructure throughout the Caribbean and continuing to supply clean, dependable US natural gas to meet the region’s evolving needs,” the company said in the statement.
