MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 3.Jun.2026, Words: ) — Mexico’s Ministry of Economy confirmed goods complying with the rules of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) would be exempt from the proposed tariffs imposed on 60 countries as part of an investigation conducted under Section 301.
This, after an investigation conducted by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) indicated alleged lack of effective enforcement by 60 countries —including the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico — to prevent the importation of goods produced with forced labor in third countries.
