US deputy secretary Landau to lead US delegation to OAS general assembly

HOUSTON, TEXAS (Ofelia Paredes, Energy Analytics Institute, 24.Jun.2025, Words: 161) — US deputy secretary of state Christopher Landau is set to travel to St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda from 25-27 Jun. 2025 to lead the US delegation to the 55th regular session of the Organization of American States general assembly. 

Landau is expected to open the general assembly and deliver the US’ opening address, the US Department of State announced on 24 Jun. 2025 in an official statement 

Landau is expected to meet with foreign counterparts and heads of delegation to advocate for the election of US.citizen Rosa María Payá, the US’ official candidate, to serve as commissioner on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR)

While there, Landau will also meet “with partners in the Western Hemisphere and urge them to address the illegal immigration crisis and strengthen the region’s response to the dire situations in Venezuela and Haiti.”
