HOUSTON, TEXAS (By Pietro D. Pitts, Editores Latin Petroleum, 20.Sep.2026, Words:) â The NGOs Provea and Clima21 called on the Venezuelan government and international companies involved in the hydrocarbon and mining sectors to establish environmental safeguards in light of recent agreements and licenses with the US.
In a statement, the organizations urged a commitment to transparency and public information, effective compliance with environmental and human rights obligations, as well as the protection and redress of vulnerable communities and the handling of oil spills, El Carabobeño reported on 20 Sep. 2026 in a post on social media.
“The Venezuelan oil industry is mired in a chronic environmental crisis, characterized by constant oil spills and the destruction of continental and marine ecosystems,” Provea and Clima21 stated.
