Uncertainties surround Repsol’s Cardón IV and Petroquiriquire projects in Venezuela

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 1.Apr.2025) — Spain’s Repsol, which has also reportedly been notified by Washington that it must wind down its operations in Venezuela by 27 May 2025, is now pondering ways to keep operating in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) member country.

Repsol has been notified that its permit to export Venezuelan oil would be revoked, Reuters reported on 31 Mar. 2025, citing a company spokesperson. Frances Maurel & Prom has also been notified it must wind down by the same date, the French company revealed in an official statement.
