(Energy Analytics Institute, Piero Stewart, 29.Nov.2018) — Normal procedures at heavy oil wells produce water extraction at greater proportions than crude oil, announced an official at Petroamazonas.
To be precise, figures from Petroamazonas reveal that 80% of the extraction corresponds to water and 20% to oil, reported online media El Universo, citing comments from Petroamazonas EP Manager Álex Galárraga.
Citing examples, Galárraga revealed statistics from two cases to back his statements.
At the 12-Edén-Yuturi block, which has been in production for 15 years, accumulated output has reached 303.8 million barrels of crude oil compared to 1,475 million barrels of extracted water, he said.
At the Rubiales field in Colombia, which has been in production for 12 years, accumulated output has reached 455 million barrels of oil compared to 5,508 million barrels of extracted water.
Much of the water extracted from the wells is reinjected as part of the extraction and recovery of reserves, concluded Galárraga.
