MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (By Fidencio Casillas, Editores Latin Petroleum, 17.Oct.2026, Words: 173) — Activists convened by more than 25 environmental organizations protested to denounce PEMEX’ environmental damage, reject studies on gas extraction through hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” and question the government’s financial support for the state-owned oil company.

“We want a future, not hydrocarbons,” was heard in front of a photographic “counter-gallery” of fires, gas flares, and oil spills, conceived at the Ministry of Energy by environmentalists to challenge official energy sovereignty, El Financiero reported on 17 Oct.
The protesters marched from the ministry to PEMEX’ executive tower in Mexico City.
“No energy sovereignty is worth more than water, more than people’s lives, more than the land,” proclaimed Sacni Acosta of Deuda por Clima and Legaia, in front of photographs by independent photographers and participants in the “March for Life and Against PEMEX.”
