Milei’s economic bloodbath: 32,290 businesses have closed down in Argentina 

BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA (By Ana Sanches, Editores Latin Petroleum, 10.Oct.2026, Words: ) — A total of 32,290 businesses have closed their doors in Argentina since the ultraliberal Javier Milei assumed the presidency in late 2013, with policies that have negatively impacted the retail sector and various industrial branches, reported El Economista.

According to a report published on 10 Oct. 2026 by the Center for Argentine Political Economy (CEPA), and reported by Efe, the number of productive units fell by 6.3%, from 512,357 in Nov. 2013 to 480,067 in Jul. 2026.

In Jul. alone, 948 businesses closed, an average of 30 per day.
