CARACAS, VENEZUELA (By Piero Stewart, Editores Latin Petroleum, 3.Oct.2026, Words: 216) â EP Petroecuador is working to resume pumping operations on the Trans-Ecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE) pipeline.
This, after the state-owned company declared a force majeure event due to the fire at the Baeza pumping station.
EP Petroecuador reported on 3 Oct. 2026 in an official statement that, following the fire at pumping station No. 4 in Baeza, part of the SOTE, on 1 Oct. 2026, it âdeclared a force majeure event due to the fire and deployed its operational plan to address the damage and ensure the continuity of the hydrocarbon value chain.âÂ
EP Petroecuador’s technical teams are working continuously on the affected infrastructure to restore crude oil pumping through the SOTE within 6 days.
EP Petroecuador requested intervention of the National Unit for the Investigation of Hydrocarbon Crimes and the GIR or Special Intervention Group, whose specialists went to the site and are conducting the corresponding investigations.
âWe are in the process of collaborating with all state authorities to determine responsibility. We reaffirm EP Petroecuador’s commitment to transparency, safety and operational continuity in the country’s hydrocarbon sector,â the state company said.
