BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA (By Steve Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 24.Sep.2026, Words: 184) — Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez, affirmed before the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, the OPEC country will maintain its important role in the global energy supply.
During her address on 24 Sep. 2026, she stressed the need to resolve the “energy trilemma,” which includes security of supply, affordable prices, and environmental sustainability, warning forced decarbonization could threaten food security, employment, and production.
The interim figure also emphasized the urgency of preventing problems in global industry and affirmed that energy security is vital for the global economy and development.

Rodríguez assured Venezuela will continue to play a crucial role in this context.

Rodríguez also mentioned a recent energy agreement between the US and Venezuela, noting it is “one of the most significant and will help balance energy in the hemisphere.”
