BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA (By Steve Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 24.Sep.2026, Words: 171) — During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez called for financial equity and an end to sanctions that negatively impact developing countries.
During her address on 24 Sep. 2026, she emphasized the need to promote progress to reduce social inequalities and advocated for inclusive development with social justice to alleviate poverty in the Global South.
Rodríguez questioned financial restrictions that limit economic freedoms and hinder human development.
She also mentioned the malfunctioning of international financial markets and institutions, stating current regulations do not foster fair trade between emerging economies and industrialized powers.
Rodríguez’s participation in the US session in New York comes at a time of reconfiguration of Venezuela’s foreign policy agenda, focused on boosting its energy production, attracting investment, promoting bilateral cooperation, and developing multilateral trade projects.
