Rodríguez highlights the importance of energy trilemma at OPEC seminar

PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (By Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 14.Jul.2025, Words: 144) — Venezuela’s executive vice president and head of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons Delcy Rodríguez emphasized the importance of the energy trilemma during her participation in the 9th OPEC International Seminar. 

The 3 criteria of the energy trilemma include: energy affordability, energy security and energy decarbonization.

Rodríguez stressed that “we cannot talk about investment, security and accessibility if we cannot guaranteeing that the peoples of the planet and the Global South have safe access to energy.”

Rodríguez also highlighted the need for investments in the energy sector not only to guarantee supply but also to “mitigate the climate emergency,” while referred to the natural disasters that affect various cities of the world as a result of the ravages of climate change.
