CARACAS, VENEZUELA (By Piero Stewart, Editores Latin Petroleum, 17.Sep.2026, Words: 342) — Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) convened discussions with representatives of bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) and the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) regarding development of the Manakin/Cocuina cross-border natural gas project.

Discussions focused on the status and development of the gas resource, including opportunities for additional collaboration among the government, bpTT and NGC to advance the project.
The Manakin/Cocuina field straddles the maritime boundary between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela, the MEEI said in an official statement.
The meeting was led by MEEI head Roodal Moonilal and included permanent secretary Karinsa Tulsie, and permanent secretary (Ag) Ava Mahabir-Dass, together with representatives of the MEEI, bpTT and NGC.

The meeting took place at the MEEI’s head office on 17 Sep. 2026.
This engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to advance discussions surrounding the development of the cross-border resource and its potential contribution to Trinidad and Tobago’s natural gas sector.

Moonilal underscored the importance of continued collaboration among the relevant stakeholders as Trinidad and Tobago examines opportunities for the responsible development of its natural gas resources and the strengthening of the country’s energy sector.
