PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 8.Apr.2025) — The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has revoked 2 special licenses important to Trinidad and Tobago. 1 for the Dragon natural gas field and another for the cross border Manakin/ Cocuina field, the country’s Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) Stuart Young revealed during a special press conference in Port of Spain.
The wind down period is until 27 May 2025, Young said.

“This does not come necessarily as a surprise, seeing how volatile things are, not only with respect to the policy with Venezuela, but what we’re seeing, for example, with the application of tariffs, I can’t tell Trinidad and Tobago much more than I have right now, but what I can say [is] that we are pursuing, I expect that we will be given an audience. I expect that we will be given the opportunity to continue to make our case,” Young said on 8 Apr. 2025 during the press conference.
