BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA (By Ana Sanches, Energy Analytics Institute, 13.Jul.2026, Words: 416) — The national government, through the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MAE) and the Ecuadorian Electricity Corporation (CELEC EP), is maintaining a rigorous plan to strengthen the Andean country’s electricity generation and transmission infrastructure to prevent any adverse scenarios in the face of El Niño.
As a strategic action, CELEC EP completed the annual maintenance of the TV2 Generation Unit at the Gonzalo Zevallos thermal power plant in Guayaquil 8 days ahead of schedule, the MAE announced on 13 Jul. 2026 in an official statement.
