EAI brief: US court to suspend order to surrender YPF’s shares in Petersen, Eton case

SALVADOR DE BAHIA, BRAZIL (By Pedro Silva, Energy Analytics Institute, 15.Aug.2025, Words: 213) — Regarding the case pending in the US between Argentina, Petersen Energia Inversora, Eton Park Capital Management, and others, which are represented by litigation funder Burford Capital, state-owned YPF SA reports that the Second Circuit Court of Appeals has granted the state’s request to suspend the order to surrender YPF’s shares while its appeal is processed.

“Appellant Republic of Argentina moves for a stay pending resolution of its appeals of the district court’s June 30, 2025 orders compelling it to turn over shares of YPF S.A. to a bank account in New York. Appellees oppose. The United States of America moves to file briefs as amicus curiae,” the US court clerk said on 15 Aug. 2025 in an official statement.
