— Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) awarded development of the Macavil field to GSM Bronco, a firm linked to Grupo Carso, owned by businessman Carlos Slim. The field is considered the “jewel” of the new mixed contracts, reports El Financiero. The field has 393.2 MMcf/d of wet gas and 27.5 MMbbls of condensate. Condensate has high commercial value, making Macavil a strategic asset for the country’s energy production.
— Mexico’s richest man, Carlos Slim, won 1 of the first contracts under the mixed development scheme (which combines public and private investment), reports El Financiero citing Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) Víctor Rodríguez Padilla. 7 Pemex JV contracts were awarded to Mexican cos., including 1 belonging to Grupo Carso.
