Ecuador recovers over 15,000 bbls through cleanup and rehabilitation work

SALVADOR DE BAHIA, BRAZIL (By Pedro Silva, Energy Analytics Institute, 10.Sep.2025, Words: 240) — Since 2023, the Ecuador’s national government, through Amazonía Viva (Living Amazon), a program implemented by state-owned EP Petroecuador, has recovered over 15,000 barrels of crude oil through cleanup and rehabilitation work in areas affected by hydrocarbon operations carried out decades ago.

The program’s technical and operational staff carry out cleanup work that includes the separation of hydrocarbon waste and organic material, according to Ecuador’s Ministry of Energy and Mines.
