PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (By Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 18.Aug.2025, Words: 246) — “Trinidad and Tobago’s landmark multi-million-dollar partnership with ExxonMobil marks a pivotal step in revitalizing our energy sector,” prime minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar reiterated after the signing of a production sharing contract (PSC) between the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) and Exxonmobil.
The PSC comes at a crucial time for twin-island nation Trinidad and Tobago as it aspires to re-emerge as a regional energy hut. Trinidad and Tobago is a major exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and it is also the world’s second largest methanol exporter and a key supplier in the global ammonia market.
