Pemex reports massive net loss of $6.8bn in 1Q:25, slight fall in debt to suppliers

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 30.Apr.2025) — Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) reported a comprehensive loss of MXN137.6bn Mexican pesos or $6.8bn in the first-quarter 2025 (1Q:25), compared to a comprehensive net loss of MXN1.3bn or $78mn in the 1Q:24.

The main factors contributing to this variation were a fall in sales; increases in other expenses, administrative expenses, financial expenses, foreign exchange losses, and taxes and duties; which were partially offset by a decrease in cost of sales, including impairment of fixed assets; and increases in other income and income from derivative financial instruments, Pemex announced on 30 Apr. 2025 in its 1Q:25 financial press release.
