Venezuela looks to incorporate 1,300 MW by YE:26

MONTERREY, MEXICO (By Isaac Silvestre, Editores Latin Petroleum, 29.Sep.2026, Words: 178) — Venezuela’s national government announced the incorporation of 1,300 megawatts (MW) to the National Electric System (SEN) by year-end 2026. This, as part of a plan to recover generation capacity and meet the increase in electricity demand registered in recent weeks.

The minister of electric energy, Rolando Alcalá, reported that unit 6 of the Centro Plant, in Carabobo, will be put into operation “in the coming days” and will contribute 600 MW to the SEN, El Carabobeño reported on 29 Sep. 2026.

According to Alcalá, this incorporation will strengthen electrical stability in the central and central-western region of the country.

Alcalá added that 7 units will also be incorporated in the state of Zulia, with a contribution of more than 500 MW, in addition to other generation units in different regions, until completing the 1,300 MW planned for the last 3 months of 2026.
