PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 10.Apr.2025) — Venezuela’s executive vice president and hydrocarbon minister Delcy Rodríguez presented a decree, signed by Venezuela’s president Nicolás Maduro that declares a state of economic emergency, to the National Assembly (AN by its Spanish acronym).
She presented decree to the AN during a special session held on 10 Apr. 2025 at the Federal Legislative Palace in accordance with the provisions of Article 111 of the Internal Regulations and Debates of the National Assembly.
Rodríguez argued the decree establishes a series of extraordinary and temporary measures aimed at stabilizing the economy and counteracting the effects of the sanctions imposed by the government of US president Donald Trump with an aim at safeguarding the fundamental rights of the Venezuelan people.
