BELIZE CITY, BELIZE (Aaron Simonsky, Energy Analytics Institute, 2.Apr.2025) — Argentina’s prolific Vaca Muerta shale play doesn’t represent direct competition for Bolivian natural gas in the regional South American market. This, according to Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) president Armin Dorgathen.
“It is not a competitor because Bolivia has its market in the Brazilian market, an insured market. So, it’s up to us to be able to increase gas production as a country,” the Bolivian newspaper La Razón reported on 2 Apr. 2025, citing comments from Dorgathen during a press conference in Bolivia.
