PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 13.Feb.2025) — Spring, Texas-based ExxonMobil Corporation has reportedly applied for environmental permits related to its Longtail development located offshore Guyana in the Stabroek Block, according to Reuters.
The consortium is eying another well in Stabroek, Reuters reported 13 Feb. 2025, citing Exxon Guyana president Alistair Routledge. Longtail will be the first Stabroek venture to generate gas not linked to oil production, Reuters said.
ExxonMobil Guyana Limited operates Stabroek with a 45% interest. Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. has a 30% interest while CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited has the remaining 25% interest.

Longtail will be Exxon’s eighth project in Stabroek. It will use a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel with a production capacity of between 120,000-250,000 barrels per day (b/d). There is yet a date for first oil.
