HOUSTON, TEXAS (Editors at Energy Analytics Institute, 31.Jan.2025) — ExxonMobil Corporation expects the startup of the 250,000 barrel per day (b/d) Yellowtail development in the Stabroek Block to occur sometime in the third-quarter 2025 (3Q:25), according to comments from the company’s chairman and CEO Darren W. Woods.
“With respect to Yellowtail specifically, I’d say we really like what we’re seeing there. I think that team who is managing the Guyana development continues to demonstrate project after project that you just find new ways to innovate and to overcome the challenges and to deliver these things below budget oftentimes and certainly ahead of schedule,” Woods said 31 Jan. 2025 during ExxonMobil’s 4Q:24 webcast with analysts.
“My guess will be for Yellowtail that will come in a little better than what we’ve publicly talked about. But 3Q:25 is a good number, a good date to be thinking about,” Woods said.
Hess Corporation, which is also a partner in the Stabroek Block with ExxonMobil and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), said earlier this week that the startup of Yellowtail would be in the 4Q:25.
