BELIZE CITY, BELIZE (Aaron Simonsky, Energy Analytics Institute, 21.Jan.2025) — Argentina’s state-owned YPF SA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 3 Indian companies for the export of up to 10 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of Argentine liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The MOU was signed with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (OIL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Videsh Limited (OVL), Buenos Aires-based YPF said 21 Jan. 2025 in an official statement.
“It is a huge satisfaction to be able to move forward with India in this agreement to potentially supply them with gas,” YPF CEO Horacio Marín said in the statement.

“We are convinced that [Argentina] has an opportunity to become an energy exporter and achieve the goal sought by the entire industry of generating revenues of $30 billion in the next 10 years,” Marín said.
The MOU also contemplates cooperation in lithium and other critical minerals and the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, YPF said.
YPF, under the leadership of Marín, has been touring the world with recent visits to Israel, Korea and Japan to talk with countries potentially interested in importing Argentine LNG.
Argentina’s prolific Vaca Muerta will be the feedgas for 2 initially proposed LNG projects: Argentina LNG and Southern Energy SA.
