MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (Fidencio Casillas, Energy Analytics Institute, 12.Jan.2025) — Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo said foreign direct investment (FDI) in Mexico reached $39bn in 2024.
Sheinbaum revealed the details during her speech on 12 Jan. 2025 from El Zócalo in Mexico City. On the occasion of her speech, she was celebrating her first 100 days as the president of the Latin American country.
“We are the main commercial partner of the US,” Sheinbaum added during her speech.
She also said that Mexico’s international reserves in the Bank of Mexico ended 2024 at a record level of $229bn.
Sheinbaum reminded the crowd that her six-year tenure was a continuance of the 4th transformation started by former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, also known AMLO. Sheinbaum said AMLO’s six-year presidential term was the so-called First Floor of the Fourth Transformation, while her term would be known as the Second Floor of the 4th transformation.
