(Piero Stewart, Energy Analytics Institute, 8.Jan.2025) — Venezuelan soldiers have an order to treat the aircraft that aims to reach Venezuela with Edmundo González Urrutia as “a foreign force that tries to invade an air, maritime or land territory,” the online newspaper El Mundo reported on 8 Jan. 2025 citing National Assembly president Jorge Rodríguez.
González, who claims he has proof that he won the 28 Jul. 2024 Venezuelan presidential election, plans to return to Venezuela for the presidential inauguration on 10 Jan. 2025,
González has toured Latin America and the US this week visiting with Javier Milei in Buenos Aires and Joe Biden in Washington as part of a planned tour to meet with certain presidents before his questionable return to Venezuela on 10 Jan. 2025.
Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, in hiding somewhere in Venezuela, has called for street marches across the OPEC country on 9 Jan. 2024, the day before the presidential inauguration occurs.
The marches are planned to be peaceful and “to demand our sovereign will be respected,” Machado said on 7 Jan. 2025 in a post on X.
The delegates of the Chavista National Assembly declared 8 former presidents who intend to accompany González on his return flight to Venezuela “as personas non gratas.”
These presidents include Andrés Pastrana (Colombia), Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón (Mexico), Mario Abdo (Paraguay), Jorge Quiroga (Bolivia), Jamil Mahuad (Ecuador) and Laura Chinchilla (Costa Rica).
“If they dare to step on Venezuelan soil even with a single sole of a disgusting foot, they must be treated as invaders of the territory, they must be captured, prosecuted and the full weight of the law must fall on them,” El Mundo reported, citing Rodríguez.
“They must be treated as invaders, drug traffickers, corrupt, pedophiles and abusers of women,” said Rodríguez, the brother of Venezuela’s executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez.
“The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) must use the relevant mechanisms to treat an invader who dares enter Venezuela as such,” Rodríguez said.
