CFE Readies for Tropical Storm Sara

(Energy Analytics Institute, 15.Nov.2024) — The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) said it has specific plans for emergency response, of which the priority is to establish the mechanisms for timely decision-making in the event of the electricity supply being affected by natural phenomena.

According to the trajectory forecast and the radius of influence reported by the National Meteorological System, tropical storm Sara could cause winds, showers, thunderstorms and rains in Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Campeche, Tabasco and Chiapas, CFE said 15 Nov. 2024 in an official statement. 

Following instructions from the CFE General Director Emilia Calleja Alor, the state entity has arranged at strategic points: 225 electrical workers, 46 cranes, 39 light vehicles, 6 lighting towers, 4 emergency plants and 1 helicopter.

 Also, as a preventive measure, CFE personnel continue to carry out work to reinforce the electrical infrastructure in the region, before the cyclone approaches national territory.
