—Argentina: Petronas is rumored to be pondering stepping back from Argentina LNG, the South American country’s initial LNG export project, leaving YPF alone to search for partners.

—Brazil: Petrobras is looking to import LNG cargoes as drought conditions lower hydro water levels. 

—Colombia: Ecopetrol and Petrobras were forced to rename their projects offshore Colombia. “Uchuva” is now called SIRIUS, while “Tayrona” is now called GUA-OFF-0.

—Guyana: US FTC lining up to approve Chevron’s $53bn acquisition of Hess. But, Hess CEO John Hess will not join Chevron’s BODs, according to Reuters.

—Mexico: Mexico Pacific looks to take FID on Saguaro LNG Phase 1 in early-2025. 

—US: Woodside Energy is not looking to build an U.S. onshore upstream business, Meg O’Neill, CEO of the Aussie co. said this wk.  

—US: “North America and Australia, please be serious about providing more secure supplies of gas into the future,” ANGEA CEO Paul Everingham said on sidelines of Gastech Houston 2024.

—Suriname: Petrobras and Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. inked a non-binding MOU aimed at assessing cooperation opportunities in the areas of E&P and CCS.

—Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago’s head at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI), Stuart Young, is reportedly also the twin-island nation’s Acting PM.

—Venezuela: U.S. President Joe Biden continues to hear arguments and get pressure to cancel Chevron‘s permission to continue to operate in Venezuela.
