— A report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) places Chile among the four countries that will lead the production of green hydrogen in the next five yrs. According to the agency, Chile together w/ China, Spain and Australia could contribute 85% of the 18 GW of global renewable capacity that will be used for the production of green hydrogen in 2026.

— Chile held the second call for applications for #MiTaxiElctrico in Puente Alto, Chile’s energy ministry announced 15 Dec. 2021 over social media. The program promotes that use of 100% electric vehicles for minor public transport (taxis and buses), which entails switching from fuels.

— The timely decision to suspend the pumping of oil along the Trans-Ecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE) coupled w/ drainage activities carried out in a preventive manner helped to avoid environmental damage in the Piedra Fina River sector in the Napo province. Due to the natural phenomenon, operations along the pipeline have been halted, Ecuador’s Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MERNNR) said 15 Dec. 2021 in an official stmt. “There are no environmental damages or hydrocarbon spills in the area,” MERNNR said.
