(Energy Analytics Institute, 29.Jun.2021) — Argentina reported that fuel sales in May 2021 fell an average 8.1% compared to April 2021, according to a report by the Confederation of Hydrocarbons and Related Trade Entities (CECHA by its Spanish acronym). Gasoline sales were impacted the most, falling 13.6% sequentially.

The drop corresponds to the bulk of the isolation period decreed by the government of President Alberto Fernández for urban areas with the highest epidemiological risk, the daily Clarín reported on 29 June 2021.

“The figure is worrying since it shows a decline of 19.7% against February 2020, the last month before the pandemic,” the CECHA warned.
