(Energy Analytics Institute, 3.Oct.2020) — Argentina’s Neuquén Ministry of Energy data reveal 11 drilling rigs have been reactivated in the province, and all targeting the Vaca Muerta formation.

Of the 11: three were recently incorporated by YPF, two by Shell, which was the first company to return, two by Pan American Energy (PAE), one by Chevron, one by ExxonMobil and one by Vista Oil & Gas, the daily newspaper Río Negro reported 3 October 2020. Details about one rig was not available.

This compares to mid-March when 38 drilling towers stopped drilling activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic, of which 32 were in Neuquén.

In addition to these drilling towers there are five with workovers equipment, four with pulling equipment and five with coiled tubing equipment; thus, taking the total number of rigs in Neuquén to 25.
