(Energy Analytics Institute, 9.Jul.2020) — Ecuador envisions mining exploration investments of $1.3bn through January 2022, according to comments from the country’s Mines Vice Minister Fernando L. Benalcázar.

Benalcázar’s comments came during his participation in the “Digital Latin American Mining Summit” on 9 July, Ecuador’s Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MENRNR) reported in an official statement.

Around 98% of Ecuador’s mining exploration investments come from companies from Canada and Australia, two countries with a long and prestigious mining history, Benalcázar said. “Ecuador has become an attractive country for mining exploration due to its great geological potential,” he added.
